The February Boston Brunchers Meeting Will Be…

Dorado Tacos & Cemitas!

Sunday, February 6, 2011 @ 10 am

You have heard about it, you have drooled over the reviews and pictures of their amazing lunch plates. Well Boston Brunchers, it is now our turn to experience how Dorado Tacos does brunch!

Michael, the owner of Dorado, is opening the doors to 18 brunchers! We are awarding free brunch to 4 of those brunchers! Here is the scoop…

To reserve your spot at brunch, you must be one of the first 13 people to comment on this blog post with “Yay! I want brunch on 2/6”. I will send you an email on Tuesday, January 25th if you made it in the top 13.

Next, the 4 coveted prize brunches! 4 lucky winners will receive a free brunch, courtesy of Dorado Tacos, with the Boston Brunchers on February 6th! To win, you must comment saying why you should win brunch at Dorado. This must be a separate comment from the comment claiming your spot at brunch. 3 winners will be chosen from these comments, based on their originality. The next way to enter to win free brunch is to tweet “I want to brunch with @bostonbrunchers @doradotacos!”. One winner will be chosen at random from these entries.

So that is it! Get on it brunchers, claim your February brunch spot!

Clarification: The 13 “confirmed” spots for brunch have been filled. These confirmed brunchers may still enter to win one of 4 “prize” brunches. If some one from the 13 wins a “prize” brunch, we will offer the next earliest comment the “confirmed” spot that was vacated for a “prize” spot. I know, I know, this is confusing. Feel free to email or tweet me if you still have questions!

Fine Print:

  • Winners will be announced on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 9:00 am
  • Entries for “prize” brunches must be in by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011
  • 4 brunchers will receive free brunch, during the 2/6 event courtesy of Dorado Taco
  • All brunch attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from brunch
  • Brunch attendees who did not win free brunch will be responsible for paying for their own items at Dorado Tacos.

  5. I’d love to have brunch at Dorado Tacos because I’m pretty sure it would remind me of the kind of food I used to eat while I was in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. The elote looks amazing with the queso fresco, as does the soup! I can’t wait! Me encanta Dorado Tacos!

  6. Between living South of the Border and surveying Mexican food on both U.S. coasts, I’ve searched far and wide for the best tacos and burritos. And, despite what many people from California say, I actually think the East Coast has some of the best Mexican food in the country (and I’ve said so on my blog). I’d love the opportunity to fill up on Dorado’s Huevos Rancheros and patatas bravas for brunch and continue to tell my West Coast friends that Boston really does have incredible Mexican cuisine!

  7. OOOH! Tacos! “Yay! I want brunch on 2/6” Also Tacos rock, specifically when paired with guacamole!

  22. Growing up in Texas right close to the border, the most delicious Mexican food was never far away and I spent 18 years living in this glory land. Moving to the East Coast, I have yet to find a worthy substitute for my Mexican food craving. Foolishly listening to the so-called-expert tour books, I visited one well known and highly talked about Mexican restaurant in Boston when I first arrived and was sorely disappointed. Not only were most entrees averaging around $25 (Mexican food should not be that pricey), but I felt the quality of the food was worse than the pseudo-Mexican fast food joint that I used to frequent to only to nurse a hangover. My experience at that Mexican joint felt like the movie Waterworld: overpriced, overhyped, and a major disappointment.

Since then, I’ve been disheartened to really try anything else and have been content on satisfying my cravings with my twice a year trips back to Texas. Until I heard of Dorado Tacos from the Texas transplant community (yes, there is one in Boston). Marvelous things have been mentioned about the authenticity and quality of your tacos , which have been enough to perk my curiosity and interest. Therefore, I am super pumped to try your place out; I have high hopes that your food will be the answer to my Mexican food cravings in Boston.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  23. My father is from Chicago, lived 25 years in New England, and ended up a transplant in Dallas, TX. The first thing I go for down there is tacos, there’s just something about the way they do it down there that’s so much better than anything I’ve seen up here. I’ve heard on several occasions from those from the SW that Dorado Tacos is the place to get them up here. I’ve been dying to try them out!

I’m also a Huevos Ranchero’s freak – I will travel far and wide to find the best, and I can’t wait to try out Dorado’s.

  24. I want to (win one of the four spots) to brunch on 2.6!!!

  25. Please consider me for one of the four spots left on 2.6. I’d love to join you. Thanks!

  26. I would love to be considered for one of the 4 spots available for a complimentary brunch at Dorado. I have enjoyed Dorado since they opened since they are close by my house. I have sampled just about everything on the menu, besides their brunch items. I always enjoy their fresh ingredients and creative takes on taco. Their Dorado taco is a favorite of mine.

Even If I am not picked, I can’t feel that bad since Dorado is really affordable. I don’t leave feeling that I have just dumped out my wallet for a quick taco meal. I have to appreciate their affordable nature, if def has me coming back for more and more.

  27. I would love to win brunch at Dorado’s on 2/6/11! It is one of my favorite neighborhood spots I’ve discovered since moving to Boston. Prices fit into my grad student budget as the taco plate (especially on Wednesday nights) is a deal. Fresh flavors and ingredients along with Dorado’s commitment to green recycling practices makes for an enjoyable dining experience.

It’s a simple equation: poor college senior + blogger for Boston Magazine’s Chowder and freelance restaurant reviewer for Timeout Boston = your chance to do a good deed and feed a hungry, food-loving soul. Brunch Mexicano sounds too good to pass up! Choose me, pick me!!

  29. Hi Renee! Sorry I’m a little late to the bandwagon, but you know me, I never miss a brunch if I can help it. 😉 I’m officially in contest for one of the 4 winner seats! Thanks~ Daisy
