January Brunch at Ceia in Scenic Newburyport, MA

Have you been to Newburyport yet? If not, you need to win this brunch, immediately. If you have, you know you want to win this brunch immediately!

This ocean-side town may be one of my favorite day trips in New England. Besides being water-front, this town has a quaint charm that is different from anywhere else in Massachusetts. Independent shops, fabulous street festivals, and an abundant amount of restaurants make it the perfect way to spend a day.

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Newburyport is Ceia Kitchen & Bar. At Ceia they’ve updated the casual dining experience with a sophisticated menu that is friendly and still grown-up.

George's Bank Cod with Fave_Beans & Guanciale Hash

Executive Chef Brando applies techniques from his classical Cordon Bleu training in creating new interpretations of the most pleasing and familiar flavors of coastal Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. ‘Locavores’ will appreciate the stories he can tell about our preferred New England food sources.
The Newburyport restaurant just celebrated its one year anniversary in December. Boston Magazine declared Ceia KItchen + Bar the Best Romantic venue on the North Shore and the Boston Globe said its one of the best new restaurants of 2011.  Ceia Kitchen + Bar has accumulated six awards in the past year. AND  it’s the only early morning brunch venue in Newburyport…so why wouldn’t the brunchers make their way here?

Join us on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10:30am for a very special brunch at Ceia! 10 lucky brunchers will be privvy to  the following amazing menu in this picturesque town! Note: That Monday is MLK Day, so hopefully you have the day off work!

  3. Fave New England day trip has got to be a full day of apple picking! Apples, crisp fall air, apple cider donuts, picnic lunch.

  4. Not going to lie, I haven’t been able to take many NE day trips due to lack of a car, but I LOVED Portland ME, especially because of the foodie tour 🙂

  5. and I tweeted

  6. Can I list two trips? 1) Ogunquit, ME – playing on the beach, shopping, eating lobster and enjoying the piano bar (though that makes it an overnight trip, and 2) Amherst, MA – running along the path from the college, wandering downtown Northampton, and eating wings at the Hangar!

  7. Our favorite day trip is going to Westport MA. Stopping first at Lee’s Market (awesome variety of yummy goodness)on the way to Gooseberry Point and picking up provisions for our beachside picnic breakfast followed by a walk along the shore with our dog Dusty. Then a trip to Partners Village Store for tea, a sweet and a book and to hang out either on the outside deck or inside pondering which book (yes book) to get. Then a drive along the shore.

  8. Ugh…I have work that day….but i have been lucky enough to attend many brunches;) you guys will have so much fun!! Can’t wait to hear the recaps!

  9. Perfect day trip-the Worcester ARt Museum!

  10. One of my favorite day trips was to Rockport & ipswich. we went to this amazing lobster shack that made the best boiled lobster. We also did plenty of shopping at all the local shops & antiques stores. just screams new England to me!

  12. While I’m usually always happy with a trio to the beach, some of my favorite day trips are when I get to go to the beach in the colder months.

One of my most recent favorite trips was a 6-mile hike around the Crane estate which included 3 miles along Crane beach. It was cool, sunny, and peaceful. A perfect day, made even more enjoyable with a stop at a local orchard and winery.

  13. My heart belongs to Maine. Favorite New England day trips are Ogunquit (the beauty of the Marginal Way is unsurpassed) and Portland (artisanal, local food and beverage at its best, including Fore Street and Maine Mead Works).

  14. My all-time favorite New England day trip is to the beaches of Cape Cod! I grew up heading down to Cape Cod every summer, and it is still my favorite New England getaway!

  15. I don’t think I could pick just one New England day trip that is my favorite, but I do LOVE going up to Maine (Portland, Kennebunkport, Ogunquit) for some yummy food, shopping, and beach time! I also love visiting Ipswich and the Clam Box for the best fried food ever. There are so so many good options!

  16. A favorite New England day trip occurred in July of last year. Some friends and I packed our best beach gear, breakfast/coffee, and hopped in the car for a Sunday at Crane’s Beach. Catching some sun and reading a food magazine (Saveur) occurred in the morning followed by a late lunch at the Lobster Pool in Rockport, MA. Clams, lobster rolls, and fish sandwiches were enjoyed on picnic tables. Can’t wait for a repeat trip this summer!

  17. Ok this might be a littttle far-ish for a day trip, but Stratton Mountain in Vermont is a beautiful spot to ski or snowboard! I love it there. 😀

  18. I like a nice trip to Vermont to hit the mountains. if we ever get any snow!

  19. Fave day trip is a summer time trip to one of the Islands (even Block Island in RI!). You can spend a whole day enjoying the beach, restaruants and scenery and then get an even better view on a sunset ferry ride back home.

  20. Tara and I JUST got back from a great Saturday touring Vermont Cheese tours. I’m eager to return.

  21. Favorite day trip….hmmm…love the islands, either Martha’s or Nantucket.
Have wanted to visit Newburyport for a while. Great bloggers and terrific foodie community. Would love to join you.
