New England Food Bloggers Relaunch

This post has been 2 years in the making. I am so excited to announce that next weekend, Boston Brunchers will relaunch as the New England Food Bloggers (NEFB).

There are many reasons for the change, but the main one is that while brunch will always have our hearts, we are so much more! We love to cook. We love to try local food products and equipment. We love to experience food-related events and activities. We love lunch, dinner, and yes….brunch! Also in the seven years since the founding of Boston Brunchers, we have expanded to areas throughout New England. And while we predominately consider Boston our home, we love to explore the entire region.

Bloggers and Social Influencers: Join NEFB here.
PR Reps and Local Business: Email to request a partnership with NEFB.

Our First NEFB Event:

You will be happy to note that our first official NEFB event will stay true to our Boston Brunchers roots. On Sunday, March 5, we will be sampling the all new Live Music Brunch at Club Passim in Harvard Square!

Weekends just got better in Harvard Square! Passim will be offering Live Music Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Diners will enjoy brunch accompanied by live music from the stage of the historic Cambridge listening room. Each brunch will feature a different style of music including Bluegrass, Old Time, Blues, Celtic, Classical, Folk, Jazz and more.

The Live Music Brunch menu will include everything from Avocado Benedict and Traditional Eggs Benedict, to French Toast, Breakfast Sandwiches, Pancakes, and more. All menu items will be created from scratch with fresh and locally sourced ingredients.  Vegetarian and vegan menu options are available. Passim took over its kitchen operations in 2015, creating a new dining experience at the legendary music venue.

“The Live Music Brunch will bolster our mission to foster community, expand our programming, and provide more opportunities for musicians,” said Jim Wooster, Executive Director of Passim. “Brunch  will make Club Passim a destination from morning to night.”

Live Music Brunch at Passim will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM beginning February 11 2017.  The Kitchen at Passim is currently open for dinner for concert goers.

Club Passim is located at 47 Palmer Street in Cambridge, MA 02138. For more information, visit

We look forward to sharing our foodie adventures with you New England!

A Day In the Square with the Boston Brunchers – Urban Foodie Finds

Last weekend I headed to Chestnut Hill Square a new lifestyle and retail destination on Route 9 in Chestnut Hill. They have a great assortment of shops, fitness center, and of course amazing food! I went with a group of Boston Brunchers and we toured the shops, ending with Capital Grille to sample some of the burgers on the bar menu.

Brunch at Beat Brasserie – Boston Rookie

Here’s the stage with the band. They have live music every night of the week (I’m pretty sure) and also on the weekend for brunch from 10am to 2pm.   We were in the first row of tables, and we were able to hold a conversation with everyone at the table without yelling.

Beat Brunch – Of Vice and Men

Living only five feet away from Harvard Square, the Beat Hotel has become one of my go to places for grabbing a drink or two in the area. With a live jazz band playing, the environment is tough to beat. Brunch here is no different and I’ll definitely be back to try the pumpkin crumble coffee cake.

Brunch at Beat Brasserie – Urban Foodie Finds

Not only was the food at Beat delicious, but the fun atmosphere and live music make it a great spot for a date or get together with friends. Beat Brasserie or the sister restaurant The Beehive definitely make my list of top brunch spots in the city!

The Second Lunch Week 2/1 – 2/7 – The Second Lunch

We managed to get a good sampling of their brunch fare – starting off with the Bohemian Platter (hummus, dips, salads, cheese, pickled vegetables, and olives) – the photo in the top right. It was a plentiful platter, but the star for me was this really brilliant pickled radish. Yep, a superlative radish. The absolute winner of brunch was the Buffalo Cauliflower with blue cheese dipping sauce. This being Super Bowl Sunday, one of my dining partners actually took home an extra order, and I regretted not doing the same.

Brunch at Kirkland Tap & Trotter

For our next brunch, we are thrilled to invite 10 lucky brunchers to join us at Somerville’s Kirkland Tap & Trotter on November 9 at 12:30 p.m.!

Located around the corner from one of Chef Maws’ food idols – Julia Child’s house – in Somerville, The Kirkland Tap & Trotter’s atmosphere embodies an eclectic and cozy neighborhood vibe akin to some of the best “gastropubs” in England. Chef Maws’ French-inspired “refined rusticity” and an unyielding passion for the best local, seasonal, and organic ingredients, have become his trademark. “You’ll find the same ingredients on the menu at Kirkland Tap & Trotter that you see at Craigie, but here they will be prepared simply and perfectly executed. You won’t see any swooshes on the plates here. ”

The 115-seat restaurant includes a 12-seat bar, with additional seating at high top tables alongside a large open dining room. The kitchen and menu centers around a large wood-fired grill set into a masonry base.

Chef Maws is a culinary legend in this area, and we can’t wait to sample his brunch!

On Sunday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m., 10 lucky brunchers will convene at Kirkland Tap & Trotter to sample their choice of unique deliciousness from the brunch menu. Here is what you need to do to win a seat:

Cruise, Lunch, and Shopping at Cambridgeside Galleria – Boston Rookie

Some fall fashion items on display. Some trends that I noticed that I’d like to try to incorporate into my fall wardrobe:  wool, plaid, shearling, fringe, shiny textures, and embellishments.  Some things that I noticed but probably don’t match my style are: red, floral prints, and midi skirts (skirts that fall below the knee to the mid-calf).

A Day Out in Cambridge with Boston Brunchers – The Vintage Mom

Many of the Boston Brunchers were waiting at the dock when I arrived. After just a few minutes we boarded onto the Charles River Boat and departed. As we sipped mimosas and ate some cheese and fruit we got the opportunity to check out some outfits prepared by the Cambridgeside Galleria. My favorite – totally this one: #MidiChic

See, Eat, Do: CambridgeSide Galleria – Kate the Almost Great

If you’re looking for shopping in Boston, a lot of times people will automatically think of Newbury Street. While there is a lot of great shopping there, it can be a bit expensive and it’s all walking down a street, which isn’t always ideal if the weather is iffy. CambridgeSide Galleria is just over the Charles River in Cambridge (so it’s easily accessible), indoors, and has multiple levels of shops. Plus, it has a lot of less-expensive stores in one place! Sure, Newbury has H&M, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, etc., but they’re all spread out with many more higher fashion stores in between. CambridgeSide has shopping in Boston best for people shopping on a budget, and all in one place.

A Casual Affair – Snazzy Bellanista

It was a beautiful sunny day here in Boston. We started with a cruise ride starting behind CambridgeSide Galleria with some chat around the latest in fashion trends followed by displays on fall fashion. It was a great show and fashions were styled by TESstylist. It was then followed by a brunch at P F Chang’s one of my fave places for veg appetizers and some to-go cheesecakes.

Sweet Day in ChestnutHillSq with Boston Brunchers – Paleo Princess

There is no better way to spend a Sunday than brunching, with some additional exercise beforehand. As a Personal Trainer and Dietitian, you can bet I was super excited to attend this event because not only were we working out, but lunch would be provided by the delicious and healthy Sweetgreen followed by not-so-healthy and sinful Sweet bakery cupcakes. But, I am a HUGE cupcake fan and that is just something I have come to accept. I have a sweet tooth and will indulge it frequently.

Boston Fitness Review: Hike with True Runner Chestnut Hill – Sound of Charm

True Runner in Chestnut Hill, MA hosted about 10 selected bloggers for a 3 mile hike. I was so excited to attend this event because not only were we working out but Sweetgreen and Sweet bakery treated us to brunch later that afternoon. New Balance and Tom Tom both showed up to provide product for the bloggers to test out. We wear tested New Balance 880’s and Tom Tom’s cardio watch.

Sweet Sunday in Chesnut Hill Square – In the Night Kitchen

In keeping with the sweet theme, we walked over to Sweet cupcakes for some sugar and whimsical treats. Note the cupcake ferris wheel. The cupcakes were moist and had a really good balance of frosting to cake. (Which in my world means a lot of frosting.) I tried the lemon and the chocolate, with a preference for the lemon which was very light. Then we started gazing over the flavors (so many flavors) and tried the Honey Blackberry which has local(ish) honey and blackberry jam and the Caramel Macchiato. The Caramel Macchiato I drooled over a little. Then I tasted it and drooled some more – this cupcake mixes caramel, espresso, and a little cinnamon and was a coffee cupcake dream.

A Sweet Time at Chestnut Hill Square – {Sweetly} Serendipity

We met late on a sunny Sunday morning for a day at the Chestnut Hill Square. With three stops on the docket, I was excited to get going! I visited the Chestnut Hill Square for another blogger event a couple of months back, and was excited to check out more of their offerings. We started with a trip to True Runner, a store I’d never been in, but that was totally my scene. I don’t write about it a ton here, but I am a complete fitness nut and outdoor enthusiast, so I basically love any and all sporting goods stores. Even just being in them I love, which is probably a weird admission, but true! Many of us had a chance to try out some really vibrant sneaks from New Balance, and TomTom watches to track things like heart rate, steps taken, pace, and time. Fun stuff!

Chestnut HIll Square: SoulCycle + Brio Tuscan Grille – Notes to Self

The class itself was really intense – quite a shock to my system due to the fact that I’ve had an on and off again relationship with working out for the past couple of years.  Molly was great as an instructor – animated, attentive and engaged.  There were moments of high intensity where we “sprinted” and I felt every jiggle of my body (!) as I pushed myself to pedal as fast as I possibly could – at this particular moment I thought my legs might go on pedaling forever while the rest of my body went elsewhere.  There was also a time where Molly got a little carried away with her H2O bottle and we were all baptized in the SoulCycle waters – I know you might be thinking that’s a little too much but whatever, it was awesome!  Her message to us the entire time was to use negative energy we bottle up and power through the ride shifting it into something positive and of course, to never give up, to persevere.  It was oddly intense at times but it felt great when all was said and done.

Spin. Sweat. Brunch. – Sweetly Serendipity

Another weakness of mine is brunch. It’s arguably my favorite meal to eat out at a restaurant, because it’s completely acceptable to eat sweet and savory dishes side by side, while indulging in an adult beverage, at a very leisurely pace. Brunch is a fun meal, and getting together with the Boston Brunchers is always sure to be a good time. So imagine my delight whenRenee announced an exercise and brunch duo event! And we weren’t just talking any exercise, but SoulCycle. As someone who was previously a SoulCycle newbie, I’d heard plenty and always wanted to give it a try, but the opportunity hadn’t presented itself… until a couple of weekends ago!

Boston Brunchers Ride-N-Dine – Cait Plus Ate

We started by putting in drink orders (Jeannie and I kept it simple with Prosecco) and the brunch began with a bread basket and fresh fruit! The crispy herbed flatbread in the basket was by far my favorite above the crusty Italian bread, though that was pretty good too. The flatbread just had the perfect amount of rosemary! Having access to the fruit plate made me realize how long it’s been since I had any sort of melon. I’m too lazy to buy and cut it myself, and too cheap to buy it already cute. So I’ve been living a melon-less existence!

Sunday Funday with Puritan & Co. in Cambridge – Just One Elle

Stepping in the front door, I instantly loved it. It was bright, airy, trendy, and homey all at the same time. It was busy but not overly crowded (we were there at 1pm), and I was immediately jealous that this little gem wasn’t in my neighborhood.

A Return to Brunching at Puritan & Company – Sweetly Serendipity

The steak was expertly cooked, and the eggs perfectly runny. There is really nothing like a well-executed sunny-side up egg. The well-seasoned potatoes were pretty standard, crispy on the edges and tender in the centers, and acted as a great vehicle for sopping up egg yolk. On the side was a serving of the lightest and most airy hollandaise sauce I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I’ve never seen anything like it — it’s almost like it was whipped cream — but the taste was spot on. Even the accompanying lightly dressed greens and seemingly simple little toasts were delicious, and I, admittedly, ate every. single. bite.

My Spinach and Cheddar Scramble also surpassed my expectations.  This seemingly simple dish was anything but.  The ratio of eggs, cheddar, and broccoli was perfect and it was cooked thoroughly, just how I like it.  The arugula salad was a light side dish, and the small toast was deceptively well buttered and tasted like fresh homemade bread.  My whole meal was delicious!

Did you notice how beautiful those eggs are? Those are real farm fresh eggs and man are they delicious. I had the broccoli and cheddar scramble, which was all things eggs are supposed to be, and cheesy. I’ve recently realized that broccoli may be my favorite vegetable, so this was an added plus to the scramble (and we were all a little sad though that the quiche was sold out by the time we arrived).
