Sparkly Secret In Boston: Jewelers Exchange–ilovelovee

Sparkle, dazzle, shimmer and shine. Words that make every girl giddy.

Last week, I had the amazing chance to feel just that when I attended a Boston Brunchers event at the Jewelers Exchange in Boston’s Diamond District. It was my first event with these fabulous bloggers. Wine, yummy appetizers, and chit chat filled the night. It was great to finally meet a few Boston Bloggers since I’m still new to the beantown blogging world after moving back from Colorado.

I honestly had no idea this building was here–but it’s my newest diamond in the rough!

Bedazzled – A Tour of the Boston Jewelry Exchange with the Boston Brunchers – Coasting Katie

Honestly, I’ve never thought of diamonds as anything remotely close to practical. Expensive, a status symbol, sometimes procured through questionable and dangerous means, they’ve just never been this girl’s best friend. However, a tour of the Boston Jewelry Exchange building and the small jewelry businesses that make up its core succeeded in changing my mind a little bit, showing me the practical side of the business – and also reminding me that any way you cut it, sparkly things are a lot of fun to look at.

Jewelers Exchange Tour with the Boston Brunchers – Culinary Colleen

My second event with the Boston Brunchers wasn’t brunch at all, but a tour of the Boston Jewelers Exchange Building. Located in Downtown Crossing, this beautiful and historic building houses over 125 jewelers, many of which are family owned and operated. Since we are technically “brunchers,” food and drink were provided by Scholars.

I had honestly never really heard of the Jewelers Exchange Building before this event, and my knowledge on fine jewelry was sadly limited. Not only do I now know enough about jewelry to be dangerous, I really enjoyed learning so much about the building and the history of some of the jewelers housed there.

An In-Depth Tour of the Jewelers Exchange Building – Wicked Good Travel & Activities

Last week I had the immense pleasure of joining a group of bloggers for yet another Boston Brunchers event. This time though we didn’t go to a restaurant. There was some food in the form of appetizers and drinks but the main event was quite different from anything I’ve ever done with the BBs.

We got a firsthand, behind-the-scenes tour of Boston’s Diamond District at the Jewelers Exchange Building. We were led through the tour by a few of the business owners. I have never heard so much about the jewelry business ever before! Everyone was very friendly and the tour opened my eyes to a whole world in Boston that I never knew existed.

The Diamond District – Megmo & Co

I recently went to a fabulous Boston Brunchers event in the Jewelers Buildingof the Diamond District. The Jewelers Building consists of 125+ family owned and operated businesses on 7 levels of sparkly heaven. They have been going strong since 1947 and continue to evolve with the changing times. The unofficial tag line should be, “I know a guy.”

The Brunchers are Going to Sparkle! Announcement: Blogger Event at The Jewelers Exchange Building in Boston’s Diamond District!!

If you have ever been in a conversation about jewelery or diamonds in the Boston area, you have heard: “Yeah, I know a guy….” Inevitably the story continues into a web of directions and instructions on how to find, and approach the “guy”. Well bloggers, it is our turn to peak under the mystery and experience Boston’s best of sparkly gems, delicate jewels, and luxurious gold.

What: Blogger event at the Jewelers Building
Where: The Jewelers Building, 333 Washington Street, Downtown Crossing, Boston, MA
When: Thursday, July 19th at 6:00pm

Boston’s Diamond District is the stuff of legends. I wasn’t in Boston for more than 3 months before I heard about it for the first time. The tales are always shrouded in mystery and folklore…and somehow make you afraid, and eager, to actually find this legendary area!

At the heart of the stories around this sparkling area of Downtown Crossing is the Jewelers Exchange Building, which weaves together the historical past of the city with the high quality and value today’s shoppers are looking for.

Founded in 1922, the building features more than 125 boutique jewelers and expert craftsmen.  Each store’s personality is on full display in the stores, often staffed by the second or third generation owners.

Shoppers can visit more than 52 retail outlets on eight floors, in search of colored stones, pearls, diamonds, engagement rings, watches, semi-precious and sterling silver jewelry. Want to customize a design? You’ll find some of the best craftsmen as well as watchmakers, pearl stringers and goldsmiths.  Need something repaired?  It can probably be done right on site – and maybe even while you wait.

The Bloggers’ event will offer an insider look at the building and the individual retailers who make up the building.  They are experts not only on the stones but on Jewelry trends – what’s hot for bridal, perfect gifts for every occasion, etc.  The building can be intimidating to those who have never entered the doors of 333 Washington Street—this event will demystify the building!   We will learn:

  • The history of the building and how Downtown Crossing has changed over 90 years
  • Why the building is the heart and soul of Greater Boston jewelry industry
  • Insider stories of people and the items they’ve purchased
  • Where can a consumer shop and how to make the best use of the building.
  •  Why many of the individuals who work in the building are considered artists – and they’ll get a firsthand look at what they do!

Of course there will be snacks and drinks to accompany this one of a kind experience!
